Scratch That

Nine and half months. That’s how long it’s been since I posted here. Sometimes life takes you on an unexpected journey. Scratch that. Life is an unexpected journey. You never quite know what will pop up. There are constant potholes in the road but you just have to learn how to drive around them. Cliché, huh?

I wish that I could say the reason I’ve neglected my blog is because I was traveling the world headlining a book tour, eating exotic foods and living the life of a best-selling author. I wish. But, alas, I’ve just been living life, unsuccessfully driving around potholes. Potholes galore. Way more than I can handle. See, you knew that cliché was going to come into play here somewhere, didn’t you?

I won’t make excuses about being inattentive to my writing. All writers have life issues and they still manage to write through them. Since I’m not perfect, I can honestly say, I become easily distracted by

my problems and therefore, my writing becomes somewhat secondary. But I recognize that there is a problem. That’s half the battle, I suppose. Recognizing the problem.

And although I haven’t been writing on a regular schedule lately, my characters have still been acting out their discord within my head. They never seem to go away which is such a wonderful thing for a writer. Sometimes they roar too loudly. Sometimes they whisper and I have to strain to figure out what they’re saying. But as long as there is something there, that’s all that matters. Because when their voices go mute, that’s when I really have something to worry about.

Have you ever taken an extended hiatus from writing because life threw you some curve balls? Or are you able to push through any crisis and write your heart out?

So That’s What That RSS Button Is For!

I’m far from a genius having superb internet savvy. Sure, I know how to Google something when necessary and even then, I sometimes have to click seven or eight links to figure out what it is I’m trying to figure out. So, no, I’m not going to win any awards for my internet intellect.

One thing I was really baffled by was how to keep up with all my favorite blogs. I know that it may be simple to a lot of people, but for me, it became quite a challenge. Sure Blogger and WordPress have the reader function where you can store urls of the blogs you want to follow but you can’t really organize anything. Plus, if you skip a day or more online, it’s painstaking to scroll back through everything that you want to catch up on.

So I went the route of subscribing to email notifications. I know what you’re thinking. She’s crazy as all get out. Yes…I am was! I was getting so many emails I was losing track and it was just as bad as trying to keep up using that damn WordPress Reader.

Well, not too long ago one of the bloggers I follow mentioned in a post that he keeps organized Continue reading

Blog Gone Wrong

Why do you blog? Hmm…I’m sure you’ve asked yourself that on more than one occasion. The question probably pops up when you’re trying to figure out something to post about or after you’ve posted something and gotten no feedback. No feedback can lead to some soul-searching about blogging.

I started a blog because a friend told me that all aspiring writers should have one. So, I jumped on that bandwagon so fast that sugar plum fairies were dancing in my head. No one could tell me that it wasn’t going to be an exciting journey. Uh-uh. I was sadly mistaken and I learned quickly that maintaining a blog was kind of hard. Or was it?

I think I initially made the mistake that I had to write about writing Continue reading

The Next Big Thing

Demetria Foster Gray over at Shaken But Not Stirred has tagged me for The Next Big Thing blog hop in which you answer a set of questions about your WIP presumably with the thought it may be “The Next Big Thing”. I was honored that she thought enough to include me.

My WIP and I have been having a rough time lately, so I took a very long sigh before tackling the questions. So here goes

1. What is the working title of your book?

Ok, I really don’t have a working title yet. I usually don’t attempt a title until I’ve finished the first draft of whatever I’m working on.

2. Where did the idea come from for the book?

I’ve always been intrigued by love triangles. How do they happen? Can you really love more than one person at the same time? And what happens when those relationships falter?

3. What genre does your book fall under?

Contemporary Romance

4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

For the female MC, Cree St. John, I would say Kat Graham would best represent her. No male actors come to mind for my two male MCs but I did find two models who embody what I envision them to look like. The male lead, Gabriel Rawlings, looks similar to model, Keston Karter. Male model, Moneon Warren, would be a sexy fit to play the other male MC, Dazz Henderson.

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Psst…I’m Still Here

I have been really neglectful of my bog these last few weeks and I didn’t want you guys to think that I have abandoned my ship, so to speak. I knew as the holidays approached, my mind would lose a little focus. Hey, with a family like mine, you would lose focus too.

One of my favorite quotes!

I’ve actually been doing a lot of reading, which is a good thing. Writing…not so much. I’ve worked on my WIP a little, with promises each day to myself to devote more time to my baby. I guess after the day officially goes from twenty-four to Continue reading
